A simple, user-friendly test kit for sewage effluent, covering permanganate value (an indicator connected to BOD, COD and TOC), pH (range 4–10), and turbidity/suspended solids.
Permanganate value: fill three 100 mL sample containers with sewage effluent, add 2 acidifying SE tablets to each and shake to mix. Add 1 permanganate tablet to the first container, 2 to the second, and 3 to the third, shaking each until dissolved. Wait 30 minutes, then check how many tubes remain pink and read the result from the kit's table. Turbidity: hold the calibrated tube vertically over a white surface, pour in the sample until the black cross is no longer visible, and read the graduation.
Not applicable — this is a testing instrument. Expected pH range for raw sewage and final effluent is 6–8.
