A digital test for the chemical determination of iron content in cylinder drain oil (CDO), giving a direct indication of engine wear rate — both abrasive wear (mechanical friction between piston rings and liner) and corrosive “cold corrosion” wear. Used alongside Vecom's Test Kit Lube Oil (for Base Number) as required by several engine makers' service letters.
Test cylinder drain oil samples regularly using the kit's chemical reaction method, which detects iron particles regardless of whether the wear is corrosive or abrasive.
