Field titration kit for P- and M-alkalinity. Range 0–400 ppm.
Determines P- and M-alkalinity in boiler and cooling water, range 0–400 ppm. Designed for daily boiler maintenance testing.
Fill the test jar to the 20 mL mark with cooled sample. Add 4 drops of reagent PA1 — the sample should turn pink (if not, record zero and stop). Add reagent PA2 drop by drop, mixing gently, until the pink colour disappears; count the drops used, each equal to 40 mg/L P-alkalinity as CaCO3. Keep the sample afterward, as it can be reused for the chloride test. For total alkalinity, swap PA1 for TA4 in step 2 (colour changes blue to orange instead).
